This groovy Bargello Embroidery design was inspired by a church prayer cushion that my friend sent me a photo of whilst she was visiting her local church.
The name of the new canvas kit was inspired by the above story because I wanted to give this kit a church themed name with a 1960s take on it.
I've always liked the song In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly and I remember my Uncle telling me when I was younger that the song was originally derived from 'In the Garden of Eden' and was a love song about Adam and Eve.
This is how I decided on the name and I thought it was quite a fun title.
The high quality Appletons Tapestry Wools that are included in this kit are 100% pure English Wool and are made and dyed in the UK.
This kit will make a 40cm x 40cm canvas size that you could turn into a variety of fun finished items, such as a cushion (see my photos where I turned the finished canvas into a cushion for my home) or a seat cover.
Please note that you will need extra fabric for a cushion or seat cover as additional fabric isn't included in this kit or you could turn the finished canvas into a framed wall hanging....the possibilities are endless!
This kit is great for mindfulness as research has shown that stitching can provide positive mental health benefits from doing the repetitive bargello type of stitch.
This groovy kit contains the following:
36 x Skeins of Appletons Tapestry Wool
A Size 18 Tapestry Needle by British Manufacturer John James
12 HPI Mono Zweigart Tapestry Canvas (to make the pattern that will measure approx 40cm x 40cm when finished). Please note that the canvas will be posted flat (folded) rather than rolled.
A4 printed pattern booklet with a beginners guide to bargello embroidery and instructions and coloured charts (the instructions are written in English, with numbered pages for easy reference and are printed on nice thick 120 gsm paper). The booklet is secured with a cardboard backing and a rose gold bulldog clip.

You will also receive a 'Bargello is Groovy' Tote Bag that is ethically produced and is 100% cotton canvas. The amazing artwork on the tote bag was created by a local Sussex based artist, Natalie from Thirteen Scorpios, which was then printed onto these bags. This tote bag is perfect for storing your kit in as well as other items.
This beautiful kit would also make a wonderful gift because it is presented in a lovely, white coloured smooth, high quality A3 size gift box.

Embroidery Scissors (check out the Fiskar Embroidery scissors that are currently listed in the shop).
Masking tape or bias binding for securing the canvas edging whilst stitching your bargello embroidery (please see my video tutorial on the video tutorials page for more information on using bias binding to secure your canvas edges).
Any other additional materials that you require to turn your canvas into a finished project such as a cushion, seat cover, framed wall hanging etc.
