I'm super excited to now be stocking Appletons Tapestry Wool!
During my Bargello Embroidery Journey, I was really pleased to discover a brand of tapestry wool produced by Appletons that is 100% pure English Wool and it is made and dyed in the UK.
Appletons Wool have a great British heritage dating back nearly 200 years. They supplied a lot of their wools to designers in the Arts and Craft movement, such as William Morris.
This high quality British wool is hardwearing and their wool is available in over 420 colours, meaning there's an excellent selection of colour gradients, which is great for bargello embroidery.
For now, I've selected a key few shades from this large selection that I think look great in bargello embroidery.
Each skein contains approx 10 metres of wool. It's 4ply weight makes it ideal for use on 10 Count Plastic Canvas or 12 Count Tapestry Canvas (such as the Zweigart Mono Canvas) with a Size 18 Tapestry needle (British brand John James Tapestry Needles are available for purchase in the shop).
CARE INSTRUCTIONS - If you do find you need to clean the wool, I would recommend sponging it with cold water. I don't recommend washing this type of wool.
